Frank Doerner is often cited as a mid-century modern designer, but he's also well known in the furniture world as the patent holder and manufacturer of high-quality tilting and swiveling base mechanisms. The leather does show some signs of vintage wear such as discoloration, scratches and other patina of a once loved piece - all of which can be seen clearly in the detail photos and natural light video provided. With that said there are no odors, tears or other damage present whatsoever.
Both chairs swivel 360 degrees and recline with ease. The chair seat height can adjust from a minimum height of 18.5" to a maximum height of 20.5". The solid aluminum bases show only minor tarnishing but are structurally sound and extremely heavy-duty and well-made. All castors rolls with ease and without noise or friction.
