Paul McCobb

Paul McCobb, born in 1917 in Massachusetts, is widely regarded as one of the most influential American designers of the Mid-Century Modern era. After studying at the Massachusetts College of Art, McCobb’s clean lines, functional designs, and innovative use of materials quickly set him apart. He was dedicated to creating high-quality, modern furniture that was both stylish and affordable, allowing his work to reach a broader audience and achieve commercial success.

McCobb's designs are characterized by minimalist elegance and practicality. He often worked with simple geometric shapes, using materials like wood, metal, and glass to craft streamlined furniture pieces. His iconic "Planner Group," introduced in 1954, exemplifies his modern design principles with its modular, customizable nature and solid wood construction. The collection’s clean, angular lines have since become a hallmark of McCobb's work, alongside other standout pieces like the "Scissor" Table and various sideboards and chairs that have become highly collectible.
