Produced in the early 1950s in Sweden, this stunning set of dining chairs is constructed from a frame of solid Burmese teak replete with old-growth woodgrains throughout. The original leather seats, hand-nailed to the frames, provides a simultaneously rugged and sophisticated look echoing the tenants of Scandinavian Modern minimalism.
Yngve Ekström was a Swedish furniture designer, wood carver, sculptor and architect and an important figure in the evolution of the Scandinavian Modernism movement. Ekström is best known for the "Lamino" armchair, an ergonomic and minimalist easy chair that he designed in 1956 and which has been in continuous production ever since. In 1999, the "Lamino" was named by the influential Swedish magazine Sköna as the Swedish furniture design of the twentieth century.

Condition Details: Save for a small crack repair made by the previous owner this stunning set of early Swedish Modern dining chairs is in original, vintage condition! The solid teak frames and legs show some minor surface scratches (the worst of which can be seen in the detail photos provided) as well as the above mentioned crack repair (again shown in the detail photos provided).
The original leather seats, hand-nailed into the frame, shows minor tears (shown in the detail photos provided) as well as scratches and areas of patina which are shown in detail in the natural light video provided. With that said the seats are in overall very good shape given their 75+ year age and are still weight bearing and comfortable.
