Title: Neoclassical Revival Lounge Chair After the Casa Encantada Line by T.H. Robsjohn-Gibbings for Peterson Studios, USA, c. 1960s
About: Introducing an ultra-stylish set of oversized, neoclassical revival lounge chairs crafted in the manner of T.H. Robsjohn-Gibbings' iconic Casa Encantada Lounge Chair for Peterson Studios. Bold in scope and color this set is a designer's dream. Featuring a heavy ply candy-apple red knit fabric, set atop a solid walnut base very much crafted after Gibbing' iconic design, this set is equal parts comfort and fashion.
English born T.H. Robsjohn-Gibbings is perhaps one of the most influential and noteworthy designers working in the U.S. during the mid-century period. By the 1930s and 1940s he was arguably the most important decorator in America. After opening a shop on New York's Madison Avenue in 1936, Robsjohn-Gibbings proceeded to design houses from coast to coast for such scions as tobacco heiress Doris Duke, publisher Alfred A. Knopf and socialite Thelma Chrysler Foy.
This 'Casa Encantada' line was created around the time of Gibbings' collaboration with architect James Dolena on the iconic Casa Encantada estate in Bel Air, Los Angeles—an architectural masterpiece located at 10644 Bellagio Road, renowned for its neoclassical style and refined interiors.
Ideal for parlors or libraries this alluring set of lounge chairs can blend seamlessly against a multitude of design backdrops from neoclassical to contemporary to modern and everywhere in between. With nothing quite like them out there when this set's gone, its gone forever. Make them yours today.
