Featuring new cotton Bouclé upholstery from Knoll Fabrics, new medium density foam and a fresh coat of single-stage, polyurethane automotive paint in a silky jet black color this set is ready for a literal lifetime more of use making it ideal for designers searching for a set that can withstand the test of time.
Alan Gould was an American designer who experienced notable success throughout the U.S. and European markets. In the mid-1950s Allan Gould established his own company, Allan Gould Designs, Inc, based in New York. One of the company’s early designs, a side chair with a steel frame and a plastic cord seat, was acquired by the Museum of Modern Art in 1955 but no designed of Gould has gained as much notoriety as the iconic "Compass" chair first designed in 1941.

Condition Details: This visually captivating set of compass chairs has recently undergone a comprehensive and transformative restoration process that features new Knoll bouclé fabric. The solid oak frames have been professionally refinished painted in a silky jet-black stain and show no gouges, deep scratches or other wear present whatsoever aside from the occasional nick.
The seats have been re-upholstered in a fabulous, kind-to-the-touch off-white Knoll bouclé that perfectly offsets the black frames and show no damage or signs of wear whatsoever. The cushions have been replaced with new medium-density foam for maximum comfort and longevity.
This artfully designed and crafted chair set is extremely comfortable, structurally sound and ready for a lifetime more of use.
