Title: Rare Petite Brutalist Space Age Sculptural Diamond Faced 4 Drawer Dresser / Sideboard w/ Leather Top, Italy, c. 1970s
About: This petite Brutalist sculptural credenza, sideboard, dresser or media cabinet, crafted in Italy during the 1970s, embodies the bold fusion of function and art that defines the era’s design ethos. Featuring two striking doors with mesmerizing diamond-shaped faces, the piece is adorned with a layer of acid-etched polyurethane paint, often likened to "tortoise shell," which enhances its geometric texture from every angle.
The top, finished with a luxurious thick-cut leather hide, adds warmth and complements the high-gloss black polyurethane base. Inside, cantilevered shelving provides versatile storage, making this compact piece as practical as it is visually arresting. Ideal for designers and collectors, it adapts seamlessly to Brutalist, Modern, or Minimalist settings, offering a bold statement for any space.
Originating in Italy during the 1970s, this piece reflects the Brutalist movement’s emphasis on raw, rugged beauty and innovative materials. Crafted by skilled artisans, such furniture blends sculptural forms with functional design, drawing from mid-century modern influences while introducing unique textures like acid-etched paint. These works, prized for their artistic boldness and craftsmanship, have become sought-after by collectors and interior designers for their distinctive character and historical significance.
Origin: Italy
Proof: Ample Provenance - Industry Consensus
Period: 1970s
Material: Wood | Leather
State: ABT Modern Restored Customization
Condition Details: This extraordinary Brutalist eight-drawer dresser has recently undergone an extensive and transformative restoration process and we love the results! The top has been redone in a genuine thick-cut leather hide and hand-polished to a silky, jet-black shine and shows no inconsistencies other than that of a once living animal (IE ranch brands, scars, etc.).
The European walnut frame, base and faces have been painted with top quality automotive single stage, polyurethane paint in a jet-black gloss color. All eight drawers open and close with ease and altogether create ample storage.
The intricate diamond-shaped faces covered in a spectacular acid-etched polyurethane paint show only minor signs of vintage wear such as minor nicks and light scratches as well minor chips in the original paint (all too subtle to be picked up by our camera).
Overall this one of a kind credenza is in very good condition and is highly functional, structurally sound and ready for a literal lifetime more of use. Please view all photos and natural light video provided for details on this statement piece's current condition. We're limited on the amount of media we can post so additional photos and videos are available upon request.
