Miami’s Post War flair is often called Miami Modernism or MiMo.  In the heart of Miami, it is easy to find relics of the Mid-Century Modern movement. Heading down Biscayne Boulevard, you will enter the MiMo district. Some people refer to the Biscayne area of Miami as MiMo on BiBo. The region strongly preserves the 1950’s aesthetic. Retro beach resorts such as the Fontainebleau, Di Lido, and Eden Roc are icons of the MiMo style.  The first major MiMo remodel was the Vagabond hotel. The hotel maintained the original look, keeping its retro lobby, glowing sign, and trendy furniture, but adding modern technology one would expect to find in today’s state-of-the-art hotels. Painted in cool colors of white and turquoise, geometric shapes garnish the building and pool area, placing the occupant back into time.
