Ib Kofod-Larsen, born in 1921 in Denmark, is a key figure in Danish Mid-Century Modern design. After studying at the Copenhagen School of Arts and Crafts, Kofod-Larsen began his career in the early 1950s, working with some of Denmark’s leading designers and furniture manufacturers. His designs quickly gained international recognition for their innovative shapes, sculptural quality, and exceptional craftsmanship. Known for his organic and elegant forms, Kofod-Larsen was inspired by nature, incorporating flowing curves and streamlined shapes that balanced aesthetics with function. His furniture was not only visually striking but also designed for supreme comfort.

Among his most iconic pieces is the "Seal" Chair, designed in 1961, which features a sculptural form with soft curves and ergonomic seating, exemplifying Kofod-Larsen’s ability to blend modernist principles with traditional craftsmanship. Other notable designs, such as the "Jutland" Lounge Chair and the "Ib" Armchair, continue to be highly sought after for their timeless appeal and distinct style. His use of rich materials, particularly wood, along with his ability to create pieces that were both functional and beautiful, solidified his place as a prominent figure in the Mid-Century Modern movement.
