About: Introducing a rare set of sling chairs, with accompanying set of footstools, by the incomparable Angel Pazmino. Recently and painstakingly restored by our team of craftsmen this iconic set has a new lease on life and we love the results. The solid jacaranda wood frames have been hand-sanded and refinished but we left some of the archetypal and intentional patina which adds character to an already character-rich set.
The upholstery has been re-done in thick-cut genuine leather hides in homage to Pazmino's original design and intention. The seats and backrests have been hand-tooled with love and dedication to the exact dimensions and methods of the originals and perfectly offset the rich woodgrains of the jacaranda wood and even show the ranch brand of the cow as Pazmino often did to emphasize his rustic, back to basics approach.
Angel Pazmino is an Ecuadorian furniture maker who has, in recent years, earned world-wide acclaim for his unlikely merging of pre-Columbian American and Mid-Century Modern design elements into his works. Born in 1926, Pazmino began his woodworking career in 1944 as a cabinet maker. Throughout the 1950's and 60's Pazmino travelled throughout the Americas where he exhibited his work and took inspiration from traditional Ameri-Indian artists and techniques.
In the late 1960's he added his second authorial characteristic, incorporating graphic elements from the continent's native cultures reviving, as he put it, “the ancient and aristocratic art of leather embossing,” learning from such artisans as master saddler Ignacito Ortiz. His works have been collected by designers, state leaders and most famously Pope John Paul II who, according to Pazmino himself, took two sling chairs back to the Vatican when they were only meant to be borrowed during his 1985 visit to Ecuador.

Condition Details: This iconic sling chair set has recently undergone a comprehensive and transformative restoration process and we love the results! The solid jacaranda wood frames have been hand-sanded and refinished but some intentional patina remains and can be seen in the detail photos provided.
The seats and backrests have been recovered in thick-cut, genuine leather hides to the exact dimensions and techniques are the originals and show only the wear of a once living animal (scars and ranch brands etc).
This exquisite safari-style chair set is incredibly comfortable, structurally sound and ready for a lifetime or of use thanks to it's recent restoration. You may pickup your order from our ABT Modern Deland Warehouse located at 1755 Lexington Ave., Unit B., Deland, FL 32724. Our pickup hours are Monday through Friday (10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.) except for holidays. We ask that you schedule your pickup 24 hours in advance so that we can have your purchase(s) pulled and ready for pickup. Larger Items – Larger items will be shipped via a blanket wrap S&H service with delivery to the curb of your delivery location. Each item(s) will be insured up to $1000 to cover any potential repairs from potential damage sustained in transit. Additional insurance can be added at $35 per $1000 and must be paid prior to checkout. Additionally, it will be your responsibility to accommodate the delivery company at the point of delivery. If you fail to accommodate the delivery company’s scheduled delivery time slot, your order may require a secondary S&H charge as storage fees and additional delivery attempt(s) are not covered in this shipping quote.
PREMIUM S&H
Smaller Items – Smaller items will be professionally packaged, fully insured and shipped via a ground shipment via FedEx or ground carrier and require signature confirmation at delivery. After a failed delivery attempt(s) by the carrier, you may be required to pick up your package from a designated pickup location.
Larger Items – Larger items will be shipped via a white glove carrier with delivery and placement services. Each item(s) will be insured up to $1000 to cover any potential repairs from potential damage sustained in transit. Additional insurance can be added at $35 per $1000 paid prior to be paid prior to checkout. It will be your responsibility to accommodate the delivery company at the point of delivery. If you are unable to accommodate the delivery company at the initial delivery attempt you will have up to 30 days to reschedule delivery with free storage. After 30 days, storage fees will be assessed as determined by the third party storage facility or shipper’s storage facility. If your building requires a certificate of insurance, there is an additional $150.
