About: Introducing a rare and monolithic lounge chair and ottoman set designed by the influential Adrian Pearsall for Craft Associates. Audacious in it's scope, shape and materials used this extraordinary set is a true American masterpiece. With it's naturally sourced materials such as solid slabs of American black walnut replete with exceptional, old-growth woodgrains this aesthetically arresting lounger and ottoman are breathtaking from all angles. Save for a minor repair to the bases this set is in original, vintage condition making it ideal for collectors and designers alike searching for an authentic Pearsall piece.
Born in 1925 Adrian Pearsall began designing and building furniture in 1952 with his company named 'Craft Associates' which started first in his home shop and grew to a company with more than 650 craftsmen and employees. Pearsall’s work not only helped define Mid-Century Modern but also the idea that function does not have to be sacrificed for beauty. With most furniture before the mid-century being highly ornate and lacking in utilitarian use, his work was a much welcomed change. Clean lines, organic shapes, and black American walnut wood are just a few elements often found in Pearsall’s furniture and all are on display with this magnificent brutalist chair and ottoman set.
This now iconic lounger set is absolutely arresting from all sides and is sure to make a BOLD statement in any space it inhabits. Ideal for both office and home spaces alike this expansive, yet low-profile set can blend seamlessly against a myriad of design backdrops from Mid-Century Modern to Minimalism to Brutalism. Make it yours today before it's truly gone forever.

Period: 1960s
Material: Walnut | Fabric
State: As-Is (Tastefully Aged)
Condition Details: Save for a small fabrication to the legs, this monolithic chair and ottoman set by Adrian Pearsall is in original, vintage condition and has aged to perfection! The solid black walnut composition of the set is in remarkably excellent condition given it's age but does show some signs of wear such as the abovementioned fabrication.
Originally this model had small wooden fasteners that protruded outward from the lateral legs. These have been lost to time and the previous owners had the fasteners replaced with solid wood dowels that can be seen clearly in the detail photos provided. There are also some nicks and surfaces scratches present (the worst of which can be seen in the detail photos provided).
The original heavy knit tweed fabric is in stunning original condition and shows no stains, discoloration or odors whatsoever. The springs and cushions are supportive and comfortable.
This extraordinary lounge chair and ottoman set is incredibly comfortable, structurally sound and ready for a lifetime more of use. Please view all photos and video for details on this set's current condition. We're limited on the amount of media we can post so additional photos and videos are available upon request.
